Preserving and Canning UK has been around since 2017, when I started our FB group. We cover predominantly the UK and Europe, but have many members from around the world. I have been preserving now for years and although that is predominantly canning, I also dabble in dehydrating and fermenting. Here, we don't exclusively follow USDA guidelines, often pressure canning our own recipes and water bathing low acid foods; educating members and followers on how to do it correctly and safely, i.e. correctly reheating, (a scientifically proven method, endorsed both by the UK.gov and the United States Dept of Agriculture).
We are aware of USDA recommendations but prefer here, to see them as just that, focusing on traditional tried and tested methods used both in the UK and Europe. We are here primarily to educate members and followers on how to preserve a large variety of foods, covering many modern and traditional methods. Also long-term storage of preserved produce. As well as educating, we promote an encouraging and uplifting environment where no question is ever silly, with an emphasis on kindness. Concerning Recipes: Please note that any recipe you decide to use, that has been posted on this website, is done with your knowledge that you are using them at your discretion.
